Patients Older than 10 years
Patients older than 10 years of age will require a full orthodontic examination. This will include the taking of a panoramic x-ray, cephalometric x-ray and clinical photographs. We will then be able to do an evaluation to determine if and when orthodontic treatment is to begin. The treatment plan and quotation for proposed treatment will be presented and discussed with you.
The first consultation is a lengthy appointment and can take up to an hour and a half to complete.
Please bring the following with you to this appointment:
- Proof of identity of the person responsible for the account.
- Proof of membership of your medical aid (if you would like these details to appear on your statement)
The cost estimated for orthodontic treatment will be provided to you, in writing.
Children 10 years and younger
Due to the age of the child, 10 years and younger, a full orthodontic examination is not always necessary.
The initial orthodontic examination will include consultation, a panoramic x-ray and infection control. An evaluation is done to determine if or when orthodontic treatment is to commence.
An appointment for the full orthodontic examination may then be made at a later date. This examination will be a 90 minute appointment.
