Dr Wally Nel studied at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Dr Wally Nel is a member of the South African Society of Orthodontists. He is also a member of the Eastern Tshwane Orthodontic Society. He has two scientific publications to his credit. He has lectured at the University of Pretoria, Department of Orthodontics from 2005 to 2012. In 2012 he received Academic Honorary Colours from the University of Pretoria.

The role of an oral hygienist encompasses a range of disciplines, addressing diverse patient needs with specialized knowledge and skills.


Elmari van der Merwe

Dental Technologist


Elmari Van Der Merwe is a detail-oriented and talented Orthodontic Laboratory Professional with over 19 years of experience in the field. She possesses advanced technical knowledge of dental orthodontic appliances and production procedures. Known for being methodical and well-organized, Elmari has a strong attention to detail and expertise in testing and enhancing devices to optimize fit. As a clear and open communicator, she is accustomed to handling high workloads and meeting tight timetables. Elmari excels in fabricating and finishing orthodontic appliances and is skilled in time management, multitasking, and customer service.

Dental technicians and technologists manufacture custom-made devices concerning the head and its cavities, mainly the oral cavity. These appliances are manufactured in registered dental laboratories or manufacturing facilities by registered dental technicians or technologists on prescription from a dental clinician or other relevant medical clinician. A Dental Technologist is formally trained at a recognized institution to an NQF level 7 qualification in dental technology and is registered with the South African Dental Technicians Council.

Elmari has been a Dental Technologist at Nel Orthodontics Incorporated in Benoni since April 2015 and previously held the same position at Fanie Nel Incorporated in Bryanston from December 2004 to April 2015. She earned her Baccalaureus Degree in Dental Laboratory Technology from Peninsula Technikon in Cape Town, awarded in December 2001, and holds a Diploma in Dental Assisting from Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria, completed in December 1997. Her accomplishments include 19 years of experience in manufacturing orthodontic specialized appliances, manufacturing a surgical jaw prosthesis as a student in 2000 at Peninsula University of Technology post-mandibulectomy, and being appointed as Education Inspector and Member of the Education Committee of Council by the South African Dental Technicians Council in February 2024.
