Meet Our Orthodontists
Dr Wally Nel studied at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
He obtained the following qualifications:
- B.Ch.D (Dentistry, University of Pretoria)
- Dip. Odont (Periodontics, University of Pretoria)
- PDD. (Orthodontics, University of the Western Cape) Cum Laude
- M.Ch.D (Orthodontics, University of Pretoria) Cum Laude
Dr Wally Nel is a member of the South African Society of Orthodontists. He is also a member of the Eastern Tshwane Orthodontic Society. He has two scientific publications to his credit. He has lectured at the University of Pretoria, Department of Orthodontics from 2005 to 2012. In 2012 he received Academic Honorary Colours from the University of Pretoria.

Dr Marvin Choma matriculated from Kgomotso Comprehensive High school, situated just north of Pretoria in 2002. He then went on to study his BCHD (dentistry) degree at the University of Pretoria which he completed in 2010. His community service was served in Limpopo province and upon completion he then came back to pursuit his master’s degree at the University of Pretoria. He completed his master’s (MCHD) degree in 2020.
Dr Marvin Choma is a member of the South African Dental Association (SADA) and the South African Society of Orthodontists (SASO) and he has served at a regional (Pretoria branch) and national level as an executive committee member of SADA. In 2014 he won first prize in the Young Researcher’s Competition at the Annual SADA Congress hosted in Durban, and has presented at the Annual SASO congress in 2019 with local and international delegates in attendance. Dr Marvin Choma has also spent time in an academic setting from 2014 to 2020 in the University of Pretoria’s Orthodontic department as a lecturer.
Upon completing his master’s degree in orthodontics Dr Marvin Choma joined the Nel Orthodontics practice group in January 2021 and is currently full-time at the Sandton branch. Dr Marvin Choma has a keen interest in improving patients’ self-esteems through orthodontics and improving the appearance of patients’ smile.
